How to Block Unwanted Phone Calls: The fact remains there are lots of people out there who wish not to receive calls from a certain set of other people due to numerous reasons which we cannot start to mention, this is because almost all of these reasons may seem unpleasant. The unwanted caller may be a persistent ex-lover, a scammer or an unwanted admirer who refuse to take your silence as a hint that they are being obtrusive.
Before you go ahead to block an unwanted phone call, it is important to know that this technique work regardless of your mobile service and it can be used on different phones (Android, Java, iOS or Windows).
You can attempt to block certain calls by adding the individual’s number to the National Do Not Call Registry, this method is cool but does not last, it can only run for at most a month and after that, the number is unblocked automatically unless updated. To enjoy a lasting blocking of calls, follow the guides below;
On iOS Devices
To block a person from calling or texting you on your iOS device is very easy to go about, as soon as the steps below are followed, the contact blocked will be banned from calling you, texting you or selecting FaceTime.
If the number you intend to block is not included in your contact list but on the recent calls list, simply;
- Navigate through your recent call logs
- Locate the number and click the circle next to it
- From the information popup page, scroll down and select ‘Block Caller’
But when the number you want to block that is already on your contact list, simply;
- Go to your settings
- Then to phone settings
- Then to call clocking and identification
- Block contact (a list of your contact will pop up)
- Select the number(s) and then tap done.
On Android Devices
Blocking calls on Android may seem complicated, this is because the steps depend on the type of Operating System your device is running. On Marshmallow and above, it can be the same, but it is different on a device with OS below 6.0.
For Marshmallow devices and above (Nougat);
- Go to the device dialer
- Then to recent call logs
- Search for the number you intend to block and simply select ‘Block/Report Spam’
On Lollipop devices and below;
- Go to your device app list
- Then select ‘Settings’
- Then ‘Call Rejection’
- Then ‘Auto Reject List’
- From here, you can add up multiple numbers from your contact or manually type in the number into this list
Note that numbers blocked from calling or receiving messages can be unblocked whenever you feel like, all you need to do is to follow to steps again to access the block list, from there you can simply remove such number from the list.
