In June 2017, Instagram announced it had started running test on a feature, called favorites, this is an attempt to reinvent the friends list and encourage people to share information in a class group with limited members. After 18 months since the start of this test, social media twist with privacy and especially Instagrams twist on private sharing has had an effect on this feature and it looks much different than what was actually proposed in 2017. The "favorites" feature is now called close friends, and will be limited to Stories.
To use the new feature, simply open up the Stories camera and take a photo or video. After your shot, a green circle covering a white star will appear as shown in the image below.
Tap it, and you'll be redirected to the close friends list where you can add people to your inner circle. Once you are in this page, Instagram will suggest friends to you based on the people you interact with the most, or you can use a search box to add up members to this list. Once you've added members and you are satisfied with the number, youll be able to share to your close friends by tapping the green circle whenever you are adding a photo or video for Stories. After uploading, from your close friends' end, they will see a green ring around your story in the tray at the top of the feed. This is a visual signal that a close friend has shared something more privately. People can't request to join this circle of close friends, it is only open to the people you add, if theyre song the list, theyll see the green rings when you post to your close friends; if theyre not, they wont.
This feature isn't new to social networks and it's a perfect dimension and a way forward for Instagram users, I hope you make use of this feature and enjoy it, if you notice it is not active on your Instagram profile, it shows you do not have the latest application installed on your device, simply navigate to Google play store to download the latest
Instagram application and enjoy the "Close Friends" feature.
