Samsung announces the Galaxy Tablet S5e priced at $400
Samsung recently announced a new tablet: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e. The Android tablet is proposed to hit the Samsung online store and various major retailers in the second quarter of this year for an interesting price of $400 which should catch the fancy of shrewd consumers.
This latest offering is quite different from the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 launched last year being that the former tablet was sold as a sort of laptop replacement, with an optional Bluetooth keyboard cover, a heavy emphasis on playing high end android games and for more productive ventures. However, the launch price was very steep at about $650.
The tablet features a 10.5” WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) Super AMOLED display fitted unto a 245 x 160 x 5.5mm chassis with an approximate weight of 400g. For reference and record sake, that’s the lightest and slimmest tablet Samsung has ever made.
It comes with a 13MP and 8MP cameras at the back and front respectively. The usual suspects like Bluetooth V5.0; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4GHz + 5GHz, Wi-Fi Direct; GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo; a host of important sensors; USB 3.1 (Type C) and Four (4) speakers by AKG Dolby Atmos®
Taking a further look at the spec shows the device comes with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, a microSD slot (expandable up to 512GB), and a 7,040mAh battery capable of fast charging. It additionally supports a keyboard sleeve for folks that enjoy a close to traditional laptop experience.
On the software side, the tablet is powered by Android 9 Pie as the base with Samsung’s latest One UI Android skin on top.
The only natural thing is to expect the Korean electronics giant to later release a sequel to the Tab S4, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e appears to be a stop gap for the time being with its ultra-slim design aesthetic appearing very similar to the Tab S4 but some corners had to be cut to keep the price down.
Samsung did not give an actual release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e save for the confirmation of its apparent availability on Samsung.com and major retailers sometime in the second quarter of 2019. And with a possibility of launching with major telecom carriers.
